MLS Multiplex: Final Mock MLS Superdraft
By Zach Lahey
The staff at MLS Multiplex worked together with Toronto Reds, Reporting KC, and Skyscraper Blues to create an original mock draft for the MLS Superdraft. This is our staff’s final opinion on what will happen later this afternoon.
Mock Draft:
1. Chicago Fire: Joshua Yaro CB
Yaro is the most highly rated player in this years MLS SuperDraft. He was the best defensive player at the MLS Combine. Chicago need players to start immediately on the back line. Chicago should select Yaro with the first overall pick and not trade the pick.
2. Colorado Rapids: Jack Harrison M
Harrison has been heavily targeted by New York City FC. Which is why they will attempt to trade up for this pick. Still, Colorado need a true playmaker and Harrison can be that guy. Harrison has shown he can dominate the college game but can he do the same in MLS?
3. Philadelphia Union: Brandon Vincent LB
Vincent is the best outside defender in the pool of college players. The Union have struggled with the outside back position. If they select Vincent, he will bring stability to the left back position. He will strengthen the back line even as a rookie.

4. New York City FC: Jonathan Campbell CB
There is one thing that hurt Campbell while he was at the Combine. He does not watch a lot of soccer which can be frightening to some coaches. They should not be worried because he is a fantastic defender. NYCFC would get a steal if they select him. Most likely they will trade out of this pick.
5. Real Salt Lake: Julian Buescher CM
The former Syracuse player has shown his outstanding abilities and how good of player he can be. Some analysts have him dropping into the middle of the first round. Real Salt Lake would be a great fit for Buescher. They need a No.8 and I think he can be that guy.
6. Philadelphia Union: Keegan Rosenberry RB
This one of the most obvious picks in this years SuperDraft. Rosenberry has been heavily scouted by the Union, a team he calls home. The Union need defensive reinforcements and Rosenberry would be a perfect fit.
7. Orlando City SC: Omar Holness RW
Orlando needs two things: stability and speed. Orlando’s squad last season was lessened due to injuries, suspensions, and international absences. They need a stable group of players. Holness can be a regular starting winger that will bring both speed and stability.
8. San Jose Earthquakes: Jordan McCrary RB/LB
San Jose needs youth at the defensive positions. McCrary is a back that can play both sides of the field which makes him very valuable. If San Jose select him, they fill their need and snatch the best versatile player in the draft.
9. Toronto FC: Richie Laryea M
Laryea is a Generation Adidas player which means he will go in the first round. Laryea, a Toronto native, will go back to his city. Toronto needs a No.6 and even if Laryea is not that guy he can develop into one. They also need wingers, so if Holness falls this far they will select him.
10. New England Revolution: Kyle Fisher CB
The ACC Defender of the Year will get selected by New England. Fisher is a great defensive player and that is where the Revolution struggle. This pick is almost definite.
11. Sporting Kansas City: Ben Polk F
Sporting needs a backup forward. Polk is strong, aggressive forward who can bring energy into the game. He plays the same style as Dom Dwyer who has had success in Major League Soccer. If they do not select a forward here, they will need to get a center back partner for Matt Besler.
12. Los Angeles Galaxy: Cole Seiler CB
Seiler was the center back partner of the highly rated Joshua Yaro. This puts more value on him than other center backs. He had a good Combine in front of scouts. The Galaxy need help at this position after selling Omar Gonzalez and he is the next best option.
13. D.C United: Fabian Herbers F
Herbers is arguably the best offensive player in this years draft. United needs serious help offensively and what better way to help this need by selecting Herbers. He will make an immediate impact on any team that selects him. He will be selected no later than No.14.
14. Montreal Impact: Michael Salazar F
Right now, it does not look like Drogba will be coming back to Montreal. The best way to fix this problem is by selecting a forward here. Salazar is an underrated player and most people do not have him being selected in the first round. Salazar has great skill and can make an immediate impact.
15. Seattle Sounders: Todd Wharton CDM
Whoever Seattle select at the No.15 will bring depth to their squad. The one position they can use depth at is central midfield. The best option would be Wharton. Wharton can be a great defensive midfielder in MLS. Look for him to start in USL but make his way up.
16. Vancouver Whitecaps: Hadji Berry F
They need help on the back line but they can use help on the wings. Berry can play either wing and will bring speed to the Whitecaps. The only other options I can see at this pick is either Tim Kubel or Dennis Castillo.
17. FC Dallas: Zachary Carroll CB
Dallas needs help in the central defense. Carroll did not perform well at the MLS Combine but teams should not be worried. Carroll was a great defensive player in college and he can bring size to any back line. Other positions Dallas could select is a goalkeeper or a forward.
18. New York Red Bulls: Tyler David CB
The Red Bulls need help at center back. The truth is Karl Ouimette and Ronald Zubar are not the best backup defensive options. It showed when they lost in the Eastern Conference Finals. David can bring defensive reinforcements. Remember the last time they selected a center back from Saint Louis. Yes, Tim Ream.

19. Columbus Crew: Patrick Hodan M
After three great years of college soccer, Hodan dropped off his senior year. He played decent at the MLS Combine but his stock has dropped tremendously in the last year. Most analysts think he will be selected in the second round but I give him more credit.
20. Portland Timbers: Andrew Tarbell GK
Portland needs help at the goalkeeper position. After mishaps at the starting goalkeeper position, the Timbers need a decent backup. They should select the best goalie in the draft, Tarbell.
