Before I begin this editorial, I wanted to share my soccer-related visions from last year—or rather, several days ago.

I dreamed that the legend of American soccer, Landon Donovan, married Alex Morgan but the two heroes of the sport stateside would face a newsworthy tragedy along the lines of an auto accident that was not of their fault but of the driver, who also met his demise. I had a climb through a mountain of Japanese pop culture material, some not safe for work, to be at their bedside at the top floor of a nameless hospital and say a prayer…while donning my newly acquired beer goggles.

Thankfully, it was just a surreal vision whose source of blame comes from eating too much Haagen-Dazs bars over the course of a half-week. A true story, that, and bless their hearts, LD and Alex are still with us. Legends everywhere. All legends. The MLS Multiplex hereby thanks, once more, Alex Morgan and Landon Donovan for their indelible contributions to making the world game…our game.
Now then, the MLS Multiplex rolls on with its visions-er, reflections-of the MLS All-Star Games with a look back at the 2007 MLS All-Star Game, which took place on July 19, 2007, at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. Baldomero Toledo was the man in the middle for this match, which drew a crowd of 18,661. The MLS All-Stars faced Scottish Premier League side Celtic.

Celtic were coming off their 41st league title and had a number of notable players on their roster, including Artur Boric, Steven Pressley, Stephen McManus, Shunsuke Nakamura, Thomas Gravesen and Jan Vennegoof of Hesselink. As for the MLS All-Stars, they has their share of big names, including Kevin Hartman, Juan Pablo Angel (the Man of the Match), Dwayne De Rosario, Juan Toja, Ricardo Clark, Jonathan Bornstein, Michael Parkhurst, Matt Reis, Jimmy Conrad, Cobi Jones, Steve Ralston, Guillermo Barros Schelotto, Taylor Twellman, Frankie Hejduk, Brian Ching…and the aformentioned Donovan.
Angel opened up the scoring with a strike from De Rosario in the 36th minute of play. Then it was Toja who would slam the door shut on the Bhoys from Celtic, the pride of Scottish club football, aside from Rangers, with respect to the other clubs in the country. With the win, the MLS All-Stars were now 4-0 against international competition, but that would change soon enough.
Tomorrow, the MLS Multiplex, part of the FanSided Network, continues its All-Star reflections with a look back at the 2008 All Star game, counting down to the 2015 Major League Soccer season.
