Since the 2005 edition, the MLS All-Star Game has featured a group of MLS All-Stars against an international club, generally from Europe. This edition featured Fulham F.C., who are currently struggling in the Football League Championship but were playing in the Premier League at this time. A number of notable faces were with Fulham F.C., including Brian McBride, Carlos Bocanegra, and Zat Knight, who would, ironically, resurface in Major League Soccer one decade later with the Colorado Rapids.

The MLS All-Stars, meanwhille, were a ripped, roaring, and ready bunch of talent. While the likes of Eddie Johnson, Eddie Pope, Amado Guevara and Pat Noonan would not be available, most of the big names were still available, including Clint Dempsey, Carlos Ruiz, Landon Donovan, Geeg Vanney, Jimmy Conrad, Frankie Hejduk, Taylor Twellman (who would go on to be the Man of the Match), Shalrie Joseph, Brad Davis and Jeff Cunningham, whose career regular season goalscoring record would only be broken this past season.

Twellman opened up the scoring in the 23rd minute play before Niclas Jensen evened things up for Fulham in the 36th minute. But the second half was all MLS All-Stars, all the time. Ronnie O’Brien gave the MLS the lead in the 56th minute. Then it was Cunningham who scored a brace in the 85th and 89th minute to slam the door shut on Fulham by the scoreline of 4-1.
