Foreign Service: Five Goals By Robbie Keane and Joao Plata

While Landon Donovan may have been gaining all of the plaudits this weekend, there were over 33 MLS players suiting up for their respective national teams this past week.
Perhaps the best performance of the weekend came from Los Angeles Galaxy striker Robbie Keane. Keane scored three goals in just twelve minutes in Saturday’s 7-0 capitulation of Gibraltar. Despite being 34, Keane is still Ireland’s best scoring option and with Ireland earning a valuable point against Germany, it is likely that he will be playing in the 2016 European Championships.
Here is a look at Plata’s second goal of the match against El Salvador. The RSL Forward scored his first-ever goals for Ecuador in Monday’s 5-1 rout of El Salvador. Plata has only recently come onto the scene with Ecuador and will likely be used in next year’s Copa America.
