Wilmer Cabrera’s Chivas USA host Bruce Arena’s Los Angeles Galaxy in the last SuperClasico in MLS history. With a record of 6-12-6 (24 points), the Goats are on the outside looking in but a win today will make their season, regardless of where they finish. As for the Galaxy (12-5-7, 43 points), a win over Chivas will keep them at pace with the Seattle Sounders, who were also victorious on the weekend.

T-28: Both teams are going through warmups.
T-12: Warmups wrap up. It will be interesting to see how Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Nigel Reo Coker do against Los Angeles today. Robbie Keane is on the bench, since he will be taking off for international duty.
T-0: Both teams reenter this pitch to the strains of the MLS Processional Anthem.
Galaxy have donned the third kits. They’re not messing around today. National anthem by Shelby Villanueva. And Landon Donovan earns a surfboard and a skateboard. I’m not going to keep count on the “Arriba Las Chivas!” this time. Not worth it, with the rivalry being dead in the water.
FIRST HALF START: 5:08 P.M. PT/8:08 P.M. ET
1′ – We’re underway.
2′ – Gyasi Zardes gets double-teamed. Double-teaming Zardes is going to be helpful for Chivas today. Can Felix Borja leave an impact for this club today against LA? Throw-in. A Chivas cross is cleared.
3′ – Marcelo Sarvas is a bit shaken up early. A bad sign. First big shot from LA today.
4′ – That first shot from LA was from Donovan. LD is in the hunt for #Landon142, if my numbers are correct.
5′ – Erick Torres gets a talking to from Ismael Elfath. Throw-in, Chivas. The break. Nigel Reo-Coker is denied by Jaime Penedo.
6′ – A cross from Marcelo Sarvas goes across the face of goal. Borja tried transition but it’s not going to work.
7′ – A chance for Zardes is called back for offsides.
8′ – Galaxy should have done better on the overlap. Dan Kennedy resets.
9′ – Keep an eye out for Torres today. He will be dangerous. He already has a callup to the Mexican national team. Will he stay in MLS or will he go back to Guadalajara? Stay tuned.
10′ – Seattle will be hoping for a Chivas win or at last a draw, since they are still the best team in the league at this moment.
11′ – Here’s Robbie Rogers. Good defending from Donny Toia, a former Phoenix SC Wolves defender.
12′ – Alan Gordon is denied by Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, one of the new guys for Chivas, aforementioned.
13′ – A defensive test early in this match, still scoreless. Bruce Arena pauses for a drink.
14′ – So who will replace Penedo the next two matches after this? My money is own Brian Rowe to steer the ship, but Brian Perk might be in the mix.
15′ – Dan Kennedy with a near-howler.
16′ – Corner for Landon Donovan. Some discussions inside the box.
17′ – That corner misses Gordon easily. Across the face. Danger averted.
18′ – There’s Hurtado again with a clearance. Good game so far from the former Seattle Sounder. Akira Kaji tried a delivery but it’s tracked down.
19′ – Throw-in for Chivas USA. Really lazy passes from one of the worst teams in the league.
20′ – This first half might be a scoreless snoozer at StubHub. Also known as a defensive standoff. Also known as a ball possession battle.
21′ – Chivas have been winning possession this half. Really good organization from the hosts today.
22′ – Leandro Barrera is shaken up and wins a restart. Gordon gets tripped up.
23′ – Yellow card 16 Andrew Jean-Baptiste
Chivas USA
24′ – Here’s Juninho to Marcelo Sarvas, and Chivas USA break that possession. Goal kick to Penedo. Borja is left wondering.
25′ – Here’s some good passing from Chivas, and Barrera gets shaken up again. Dan Gargan needs to be careful. A yellow and he is out for the match against Colorado.
26′ – Wide right for Juninho. His shooting form has been an issue this season.
27′ – Corner for Donovan is high and across the face. Take two. Tried to find Omar Gonzalez. No dice.
28′ – A little Robbie Keane magic in the second half might alleviate things. Be on the lookout, readers.
29′ – Throw-in for the Galaxy, and here is Robbie Rogers. More organization from the Goats.
30′ – Half-hour mark, no score. A set piece. And the Gordon header is saved by Kennedy.
31′ – The ensuing corner is cleared and the rebound is also cleared. Kennedy is facing the firing squad today.
32′ – Back come Chivas with the ball. Donny Toia. And it’s back to Penedo.
33′ – Got something to say on this match? Sound off in the comments below. It’s scoreless through 33 minutes here at StubHub Center.
34′ – Ambitious shot from Rogers. Not one of his better attempts.
35′ – Yellow card 6 Baggio Husidic
Los Angeles Galaxy
Good call from Elfath. That was a studs-up tackle.
36′ – Here’s Borja. Now Penedo plays it forward.
37′ – No dice for Gargan. Goal kick for Kennedy, who’s had a great game tonight.
38′ – Juninho conceded a free kick, from 20 yards out, directly in front. Collected by Penedo.
39′ – Now both goalkeepers are making a name for themselves this half. I think we’re going to have a low-scoring game unless Robbie Keane enters the fray in the second half.
40′ – Gordon concedes a goal kick to Kennedy.
41′ – GOAL! Los Angeles Galaxy 11 Gyasi Zardes
And we have first goal of the game. Landon with the assist. Seven to go before he passes Steve Ralston.
42′ – This is going to be a wide-open game if Landon drops the mic once more.
43′ – You know what would be scary? Gyasi Zardes going to England. As long as he isn’t on the same team with Mario Balotelli, he’ll have his share of good times.
44′ – Here come LA again, and that’s out for a goal kick to Kennedy.
45′ – For a tarped-off game, this is a really decent crowd. A shot for LA is blocked. One minute of extra time on the way.
45′ + 1′ – Watch for Keano to slam the door shut in the second half. A second goal for LA is denied due to Gordon being offsides. It’s halftime.

SECOND HALF START: 6:10 P.M. PT/9:10 P.M. ET
46′ – The second half begins.
Substitution Chivas USA
IN 15 Eric Avila
OUT 24 Nathan Sturgis
47′ – Zardes had a bid for a brace but just missed. Robbie Rogers was there with the delivery. Elfath calls for a foul, and that’s Torres who’s shaken up.
48′ – Kaji kicks it back to Penedo. Domo arigato, Akira-san. Noew here is Felix Borja, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado now. Dan Gargan with throw.
49′ – Rogers. To Marcelo Sarvas. Omar Gonzalez. Baggio Husidic now. Sarvas wins a restart.
50′ – That chip won’t work. Ambitious chip. Barrera gets hacked again.
51′ – Erick Torres with the footwork. Juninho, Leonardo and Gargan have to triple-team. That’s how good he is.
52′ – A corner. Cleared. Chivas with the pressure cooker offense this first half.
53′ – A gift. However, the Galaxy midfield are there to sweep. Jaime Penedo will play this forward.
54′ – Akira Kaji with the clearance. Kaji is showing some of that J-League experience today.
55′ – Penedo swoops and resets. The Galaxy will miss him the next two matches, that’s for sure.
56′ – Zardes. And the cross is collected by Kennedy. A speculative shot from Marcelo, and he knows it.
57′ – The Galaxy are doing soccer’s rendition of throwing darts. It’s pub-league material, if you ask me, given that darts are what you see played at pubs in England.
58′ – Here’s Leandro Barrera. Torres just ran into a brick wall. Keane’s going to come in soon.
59′ – Substitution Los Angeles Galaxy
IN 7 Robbie Keane
OUT 9 Alan Gordon
60′ – Gyasi Zardes with his best Robbie Keane bad touch impression. Golf clap, folks.
61′ – I wonder if this means Zardes plays the role of LA’s target forward for the rest of the match. Corner, Chivas USA.
62′ – Headed away. And Gonzalez with the sweep. Felix Borja is not happy. He must be wondering, “What the heck am I doing here?”
63′ – Nigel Reo-Coker is having a nightmare game today.
64′ – Corner, Galaxy.
65′ – Cleared, and Chivas are once again showing excellent organization. What a save from Kennedy. Clutch once again.
66′ – Lalas Hill is open. This might be a sellout crowd. Mexican wave going around.
67′ – This is a the atmosphere Chivas USA has been lacking all season. The only time there are crowds like this at Chivas games…is when Chivas USA plays the Los Angeles Galaxy.
68′ – GOAL! Los Angeles Galaxy 7 Robbie Keane
Well, this match needed Keane magic, and this match got Keane magic. What a chip.
69′ – Substitution Chivas USA
IN 18 Marvin Chavez
OUT 8 Agustin Pelletieri
70′ – Chivas USA are in a bit of a pinch, and the Seattle Sounders have to be wondering, “What is going on?”
71′ – Juninho tried to be a bit unselfish from a tight angle.
GOAL! Los Angeles Galaxy 11 Gyasi Zardes
This is tiki-taco football at its finest.
72′ – And the Angel City Brigade chants “Seven Nation Army.”
73′ – Poorly reeled in by Keane there. Could have been a brace for him.
74′ – Here’s a free kick from outside the box for Marvin Chavez. 20 out. High.
Substitution Los Angeles Galaxy
IN 25 Rafael Garcia
OUT 8 Marcelo Sarvas
75′ – Husidic is shaken up after that sweet shin music from Torres. Adios.
Red card 9 Erick Torres
Chivas USA
76′ – And that just adds to a sorry afternoon for Chivas USA. Husidic is fine, and now LA have a man advantage and a three-goal advantage.
77′ – The Galaxy are just going to be content to melt the clock right about now.
78′ – Substitution Chivas USA
IN 2 Bobby Burling
OUT 11 Leandro Barrera
79′ – This is going to be a game of hot potato. That Torres red card took all the air out of this match. There is some drumming, but that’s about it.
80′ – Nigel Reo-Coker is hoping to get Chivas USA back on track, but you have to wonder if career could be on the brink, now that he’s been sent to Chivas USA, a dead team walking.
81′ – Robbie Rogers with the headed clearance.
Substitution Los Angeles Galaxy
IN 30 Chandler Hoffman
OUT 10 Landon Donovan
82′ – Landon Donovan has called it a night, and now it’s up to Chandler Hoffman to try to wrap things up. “One More Year!” chant the ACB supporters. Supporters can dream…
83′ – Zardes is on pace to be Man of the Match today. If this was a Galaxy home game, everyone in attendance wins a free oil change from Tire Pros.
84′ – Chivas are listless at the moment. A passing clinic for LA this minute. I think they are content just to hold the ball.
85′ – I’m not sure why the Goats are not trying to press and show urgency this minute. Unbelievable.
86′ – Baggio Husidic is denied. He’s had an average game against a below-average team, Husidic.
87′ – Galaxy are in no rush to score a fourth, it seems. Another save from Kennedy. 18,252 in attendance today.
88′ – Andrew Jean-Baptiste plays it forward. And now it’s Kaji. I reckon he’s not having a bash out here in SoCal, Kaji isn’t.
89′ – Chivas win a restart, but it won’t amount to much.
90′ – I reckon there won’t be a lot of stoppage time. Two minutes.
90′ + 1′ – The Galaxy are continuing to apply pressure here. They plan to see this off on their terms.
90′ + 2′ – Tough going for Chandler Hoffman today. That’s it.
