Houston Dynamo (5-11-3, 9th Eastern) vs. Toronto FC (7-5-4, 3rd Eastern)
In a rematch of last Saturday’s 4-2 Toronto FC victory at BMO Field, Houston will play host to TFC in a match that is another chance for the Dynamo to turnaround their disaster of a season in what should be a sweltering hot July day as usual in Texas.
Houston roared out in front on Saturday in Toronto, going up 2-0 over Toronto thanks to a first half brace from Brad Davis, but squandered their lead before halftime as Dominic Oduru scored a goal just before the whistler for half to help lift Toronto to an eventual 4-2 win off the back of two second half goals from Jermain Defoe in what was a heartbreaking result for Houston.
Luckily for the Dynamo, Toronto should be worn down after an intense 1-1 draw with Canadian rivals Vancouver at BMO Field on Wednesday, something that should slow down the in-form Defoe as he heads to the heat of Houston on Saturday where the fitness of Toronto could be the key to the game. Playing a lot of football recently Toronto could be worn down which gives Houston an edge, but they haven’t shown that they can take advantage of anything this season which makes it hard to predict them. Still, expect a rare feel good night for the Dynamo supporters tonight if the likes of Michael Bradley and Jermain Defoe aren’t at 100% speed.
