Did you expect a different player to make the Team of the Week at left midfielder other than Brad Davis this week?
Already scoring in his return to the Houston Dynamo leading up to Saturday’s match against Toronto FC, the United States international did his best to lift a struggling club again in a difficult away fixture for the Dynamo in the first half with one of the best opening performances of the 2014 MLS season to date.
One of the best playmakers in the Eastern Conference, Davis showed that he possesses finishing ability in bunches as well, potting two goals that looked like they would lift the Dynamo to a massive victory of Toronto FC that Houston desperately needed to continue to inch back into the playoff picture in the East.
Toronto FC eventually made what was a comeback for the ages against the Dynamo, but for the moments in which Houston had the lead it was easy to see why many are counting on things being different for the club now that Davis is back in the fold. So vital to the Dynamo’s success with both his crossing ability as well as timely goals of his own, Houston’s season will only become a success if Davis lifts them to victories in the second half of the season. If anyone can live up to that pressure, it is the talented Davis.
