Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands are feeling mighty fine after routing Spain 5-1 in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. A win over Ange Postecoglou’s Australia should see the team through to the next round and that’s exactly what the MLS Multiplex is boldly predicting today at the Estadio Beira-Rio Porto Alegre in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET and will be televised by ESPN. Here are 10 Bold Predictions for today’s match between Australia and the Netherlands.
1. No goals for Australia
This is a match where Australia will be making a quick exit from the FIFA World Cup. There will be no goals scored for Australia in this match with the Orange.
2. At least five saves from Mat Ryan
The one bright spot from this fiasco for the Socceroos is the play of goalkeeper Mat Ryan. Ryan will make at least five saves but it will not be enough.
3. Robin van Persie with a brace
Arsenal forward Robin van Persie already has a brace in their 5-1 shellacking of Spain, scoring in the 44th and 72nd minutes. Against the Aussies, van Persie will also score a brace in the second half to lead the charge.
4. Arjen Robben with a brace
Bayern Munich midfielder Arjen Robben is another player to keep an eye out for in this match. Robbie scored in the 53rd and 80th minute of play and will get in on goal with a second-half brace to help the Netherlands qualify for the Round of 16.
5. Daley Blind with at least two assists
Defender Daley Blind of Ajax Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ top provider at this tournament with two assists. The 24-year old will up his stock with at least a couple more assists to power the Dutch.

6. Wesley Sniejder with an assist
Another face to watch out for is Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder. With 100 caps to his credit, the old man of the Netherlands national team will keep plugging away with at least another assist.
7. No goals for Stefan de Vrij
Feyenoord defender Stefan de Vrij scored in the 64th minute for the Dutch in their 5-1 win over Spain. However, he will not get on goal in this match against Australia.
8. Under five saves for Jasper Cillessen
Ajax netminder Jasper Cillessen only had to make three saves in the Netherlands’ victory over Spain and against Australia, he will have another quiet night in Porto Alegre, with under fives saves made.
9. At least 35 fouls, under five cards
This will be a fast and fluid game, with the fouls and cards kept to a minimum. The MLS Multiplex is boldly predicting for at least 35 fouls whistles and under five cards issued.
10. Netherlands go through, Australia go home
This will be a straightforward match for the Netherlands, as this Australia side will look to build for the future, with the Asian Cup looming. It will be a no-win situation for the Socceroos, but as for the Orange, the work needs to be done.
