Bruce Arena’s Los Angeles Galaxy and David Moyes’s Manchester United will be clashing at the Rose Bowl on Wednesday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET. United will visit the United States this summer as part of their 2014 preseason tour ahead of their 2014/15 Barclays Premier League campaign.

Notable players for Manchester United this season include Mexican National Team star Javier Hernandez, England international Wayne Rooney, the Netherlands’ striker Robin van Persie, Spanish international Juan Mata, Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini, and Japan’s Shinji Kagawa.

“Playing LA Galaxy at the world-famous Rose Bowl Stadium will be an important part of the team’s preparations for the 2014/15 football season. The Club has been visiting Los Angeles since 1950 and this match provides a great opportunity for us to engage with our fans in this region,” said Manchester United Group Managing Director Richard Arnold. “The popularity of soccer in the US continues to strengthen, and Major League Soccer and LA Galaxy have been fundamental to this. Our previous matches against MLS opposition have proved popular with fans and players alike, and we are delighted to be returning to the US.”

“We are excited to take on Manchester United at the Rose Bowl Stadium this summer,” said LA Galaxy President Chris Klein. “We look forward to playing a storied club at a storied venue. As the top club in North America it is important for us to play big games and bring big events to the city of Los Angeles.”

While United and the Galaxy finalize their dream match with each other, LA Galaxy II standout Kofi Opare has dreams of returning to the first team. Opare and the Galaxy II defeated the Oklahoma City Energy, 4-2, on Monday in USL Pro play.

“I felt a little fatigued because it was the first time that I’ve played 90 minutes since [the Galaxy’s 2013 Western Conference Semifinal exit against Real Salt Lake],” said Opare to LAGalaxy.com’s Adam Serrano. “I’m happy to get 90 minutes and get sharpness back.

“I want to present Bruce with an option in case that he needs another defender. I want to show him that I am available if he needs me, but from a personal standpoint, it’s important to just be ready whenever in case I get the call to ask the team.”

Returning to first team news, Galaxy captain Robbie Keane reunites with former Wolverhampton Wanderers teammate Carl Robinson on Saturday at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. when LA take on the Vancouver Whitecaps. Truth be told…this Welshman has come a long way. Literally.

“He’s a good friend of mine and I’m delighted he was given the opportunity,” Keane said of the former Welsh international to Serrano. “He’s young, enthusiastic and has good ideas. He learned the trade here, he was assistant manager for a long time and he certainly deserves a chance.”

“It’s still early, but to date, he’s done an excellent job,” said Arena of Robinson. “His team has played well and they’ve gotten points on the road while also doing well at home, he’s done a pretty good job.”
