Lots of DGW players meant points all over the place this week in MLS Fantasy.

If you forgot to set your line up this week, then you missed out big time. With the most midweek games so far this year, there were tons of points on the board. Just look at the numbers on this team of the week.

The lowest point total is 15, which can be the highest some weeks. Also look at all those Chicago Fire players. If you loaded up on them, chances are you scored big in your league this week. In addition to that we had a couple of hat tricks and plenty of goals among the forward position as well.

Three Hits and Misses

Hit: Chicago’s Backline

They had two games to work with but my goodness look at those point totals. Just the four who made the team of the week combined for 73 points. If you had any combination of that you were set. Especially the value buy of Brandon Vincent.

Miss: Alex

He had two matches this week, was selected by over 12% of owners, and only came away with five points. He’s been a good source of assists this year, but he came up dry in week 12.

Hit: Hat Trick Midfielders

Both Gerso and Miguel Almiron struck gold this week with their hat tricks against Seattle and Houston, respectively. Gerso had a couple more points on the week but you couldn’t go wrong with either.

Miss: Cody Cropper

Five points isn’t awful for a keeper, but when you’re selected by 25% of owners you need to deliver more. Especially when other keepers are putting up three times that…

Hit: Nick Rimando

…Keepers like Nick Rimando, who was a risk against Seattle but paid off. He only gave up one goal, and got a penalty save on Clint Dempsey in addition to that. It’s been a rough season for Real Salt Lake but Rimando is still reliable

Miss: Alvas Powell

This is more about Portland’s backline being an issue than just Powell. He got an assist last week but only had three points. There are some back line issues happening when that’s the case.

Three Players to Pick Up

Michael Barrios

He’s part of an FC Dallas team with two games this week. The first at Chicago, but getting a home game against Houston is where the money maker is.

Giovani dos Santos

Three goals in the last three matches for the LA Galaxy striker. His form has picked up and so has the play of his team as a whole.

Ike Opara

He should be well rested after not playing against Vancouver in SKC’s second game of the week. On the road against Colorado should be a good shot at some shutout points.
