Late goals and shutouts made for a wild week in the standings and the MLS Fantasy world as well.
70 minutes into the New England and Seattle game it looked like the team of the week would be littered with Revolution players and they would have a big win. Such is life in MLS, Seattle got three goals and we find more Sounders on this week’s team than New England players.
Here is the Round 9 Dream Team.

The San Jose Earthquakes and NYCFC also are well represented this week. Surprisingly, no D.C. United players made it for their 3-1 win at Atlanta.
Three Hits and Misses of Week 9
Hit: Toronto’s Backline
The Reds shutout Houston and every member of their three man backline put up big numbers. Justin Morrow, Nick Hagglund, and Eriq Zavaleta combined for 27 points in the 2-0 win.
Miss: Cody Cropper
It seemed like it would be a good week for the over 24 percent of owners who had Cropper on their team. Then the Sounders went nuclear over the last 15 minutes and Cropper ended with just three points.
Hit: Maximiliano Urruti
Urruti won the award for best narrative goal of the week. His equalizer against his former team also led to a solid fantasy performance as well. It was a welcome on after his last two matches hadn’t produced many points.
Miss: Lawrence Olum
For Portland, the “midfielder” has been a rock from the fantasy perspective. Olum had been racking up points as he played centerback for the Timbers. The past three matches he has fallen down to earth some, scoring just nine total points in that time.
Hit: Seattle’s Midfield
Two of the three goals in that raucous stretch from Seattle came from Midfielders. Fans won’t be surprised that Nicolas Lodiero got one, Ozzie Alonso was a much bigger surprise however. Add in Christian Roldan and Gustav Svensson and they put up a combined 45 points.
Miss: Nick Lima
The rookie has become one of the most popular cheap picks in Fantasy. This past week he only had a single point due to his 10 minutes of action.
Three Players To Pick Up
Sebastian Giovinco
Toronto is one of four teams with two games this week, so he should have plenty of chances for points.
Ike Opara
Another double gameweek option. Peter Vermes has changed his lineup as little as possible so he’s a good option for big minutes.
Daniel Royer
Since so many big names are on double game weeks it might be hard to keep the price down. Royer is a good option when looking to save some money while getting two games.

Next: Was this Atlanta United’s wake-up call in Major League Soccer?
We’re starting to have some separation at the top, but with so many teams with big names having double game weeks, there could be a lot of movement this weekend.
