On Tuesday, longtime Major League Soccer goalkeeper Dan Kennedy announced his retirement.

After a 10-year career in the MLS, Kennedy has decided to end his professional playing career and will now work in the LA Galaxy front office, after joining the club as a player in 2016.

"I am incredibly grateful to have spent 10 years playing in Major League Soccer. There are countless people – my teammates, coaches, fans and family – that have been deeply influential in my career and that have helped me forge some of the best memories of my life. I want to especially recognize my parents, my sister, my wife Stephanie and my son Archer, who have been unwavering with their support. I will walk away from my playing career proud of the time I spent in this league and how far it has come. I am excited to take this next step in my career with the LA Galaxy as I walk away from my time on the field."

The 34-year-old’s career in the MLS started in 2008 with Chivas USA. Kennedy was originally drafted by the club in 2005 but ended up playing in the USL for the Puerto Rico Islanders where he was named Rookie of the Year. Following his time in Puerto Rico, he played two seasons in Chile for Municipal Iquique.

Chivas USA would be his home for the seven seasons starting in 2008. During his time with the now obsolete club, Kennedy made 144 appearances and had 28 clean sheets.

The goalkeeper moved to FC Dallas in 2015 and made 16 starts and recorded five clean sheets for the Texas club. In 2016, he made the move to the Galaxy, appearing in three matches for the club.
