Despite the shortened schedule last week in Major League Soccer, there was still plenty to talk about and react to. Here are some of the highlights from the past week on social media in the MLS.
There’s plenty to talk about this week, including Bastian Schweinsteiger’s arrival to Chicago and the United States World Cup qualifiers.
Schweinsteiger
The Chicago Fire’s newest signing arrived in the Windy City on Tuesday and was welcomed by a large contingency of fans. Hundreds packed Chicago O’Hare International Airport to catch a glimpse of the German star.
However, at his press conference on Wednesday, a reporter asked a cringe-worthy question to Schweinsteiger. Let’s just say Chicago is not a country.
The Chicago Fire general manager handled it quite well.
Anything's possible with Bastian Schweinsteiger at Chicago Fire.

St. Louis makes a push
With MLS expansion in full flight, each city is making an effort to bring a professional soccer to their respective regions. This past week, St. Louis made a push as an upcoming vote will likely decide their fate. A rally was held earlier in the week and was well attended.

USMNT in action
The United States Men’s National Team continued their journey to the 2018 World Cup with two qualifying matches. A 6-0 win over Honduras was well received and the 1-1 draw against Panama was widely accepted as a success. Here’s what Twitter had to say about the two matches.

Sometimes things don’t turn out the way the way you hoped they would.
I think we can all agree that the Schweinsteiger press conference illustrates perfectly why France will never win the Gold Cup.

That press conference provided a gold mine of reactions from Twitter.
