Chris Pontius signed with the Philadelphia Union from DC United in December at the very end of last season. Coming off a few injury years with DC, the Union took a risk by signing Pontius that worked out extremely well. The 29-year-old scored 12 goals and picked up 6 assists in his 33 regular season appearances for Philadelphia. His strong performance was one of the reasons that pushed the Union into the playoffs for the first time since Chivas USA was still in the league. This was Pontius’ most productive year to date, contributing to 18 goals.
