LA Galaxy forward, Jack McBean, is reportedly set to join English third division club, Coventry City, on a six month loan that could be extended to a full year.

According to multiple reports from the United States and England, LA Galaxy forward, Jack McBean, is set to join Coventry City on a six month loan. The loan could reportedly be extended to a year. This will be a good shot for McBean to get some valuable experience overseas as he joins the third division English club.

Coventry City plays in League One which is the third tier of football in England. McBean attended a match against Swindon Town on August 6th and he was wearing Coventry City gear. (MLSSoccer.com) This loan move would give the young forward a chance at possible first team minutes which he wasn’t receiving much of this season with Los Angeles.

McBean has already begun training with the English club as an official announcement for the loan move is imminent. He has appeared in two games for the Galaxy’s first team this season. He started and played the full 90 minutes against the Colorado Rapids on June 22nd and he was used as a substitute off of the bench for nine minutes against San Jose on June 25th.

The 21-year old striker has not appeared in a game for Los Angeles since June 25th as he has been as unused sub in six straight matches. He leads the United Soccer League (USL) in goals this season with 15 as he has made 17 appearances for the LA Galaxy II. He has the talent to develop into a quality player later in his career but he was not getting the necessary playing time with LA.

This loan move should give McBean more opportunities as he is still a young and improving player. With his young age, Jack could definitely be a regular for the Galaxy or another quality club in a few years. He has shown instances of brilliance during his time with Los Dos and with Los Angeles.

The Coventry Telegraph reported that Jack McBean will be “initially viewed more as a development player to earn a place in the first team rather than a ready-made starter.” With the amount of talent that he holds, I don’t see him having much trouble getting into the first team and maybe even the Starting XI.

It will be interesting to see how McBean plays for Coventry City over the next few months. It is definitely a situation to keep a close eye on as he could flourish for the English club against some good competition. The LA Galaxy and Jack should both benefit from this move.
