Let’s cook up this tasty what-if scenario, brought to you by yours truly here on the world-famous MLS Multiplex. Suppose a Los Angeles Galaxy supporters group like the Angel City Brigade decided to plagiarize one of the chants from the esteemed Timbers Army, it would go something like this, as follows.

“We’ll sing for you LA
Till you finish the fight!
There’s a party in Carson!
StubHub’s rocking tonight!”

Okay, let’s try that again, but with a daytime twist.

“We’ll sing for the home team
And we’ll go all the way!
There’s a party in Carson!
StubHub’s rocking today!”

The point that has to be made is that it will be a party at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. on Aug. 2 when Caleb Porter’s Portland Timbers take on Bruce Arena’s Galaxy. And yes, expect the Timbers Army to be there.

Despite a record of 6-6-9 (27 points) and a position of seventh place in the MLS Western Conference, the Timbers are picking up points and are still in the hunt for a spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs. Los Angfeles are 8-4-6 (30 points) but with two other teams sitting on 30 points, the Galaxy will look to get back on form after dropping a stinker against Sporting Kansas City a few weekends ago.

Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. PT/2:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by NBC. Yes, not NBC Sports Network, the MAIN network, the National Broadcasting company. Cue the chimes.

So, after hearing those chimes, it’s time for our 10 Bold Predictions for Saturday’s tilt between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Portland Timbers.
