The MLS regular season is over as here are our latest Power Rankings as we prepare for the playoffs
18 teams are in, eight failed to make it. The final day of the regular-season campaign had plenty of twists and turns, as the final couple of spots in the Eastern Conference were clinched, with both expansion sides making it into the post-season, one more comfortably than the other.
At the top of the table, there was a battle between the Philadelphia Union and Toronto FC to take the Supporters’ Shield, with the former winning on Sunday to clinch the first trophy in their history.
We look forward to the post-season now, following the international break. In ten days time, the Play-In Round of the Eastern Conference will get the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs going, as four teams aim to book their spots in the first round of the Eastern Conference run.
Here are our MLS Power Rankings following the finale of the 2020 regular-season.
MLS Power Rankings: 26. FC Cincinnati (=)
Make no bones about it, this year has been just as bad as their first season in Major League Soccer. FC Cincinnati scored 12 goals in 2020. TWELVE GOALS! No wonder they have finished bottom of the league.
Their final game of the campaign came against Inter Miami CF, where they went two goals down early and never looked like they could get back into it. They scored in the second half through Joe Gyau, but that was it, and their season ended with a whimper.
MLS Power Rankings: 25. Houston Dynamo (=)
Already eliminated going into the final day of the 2020 regular-season campaign, Houston put up a fight against the Colorado Rapids, but ultimately did what they have done too much this year, fallen to a loss.
They equalised through Mauro Manotas after 70 minutes, having gone behind just a couple of minutes earlier, and it looked like they would take a point from their final clash of the term, but a late winner gave the Rapids the win and left Houston bottom of the Western Conference table.
