sharp squad. This was most recently demonstrated in the 3-1 loss against their biggest rivals, the Portland Timbers. Although it was better than the ridiculous match against LA earlier this month, in which Seattle sent a record 22 shots with only 5 on frame, and managed to score precisely zero goals. Seattle had 13 shots on goal, with 6 on frame. This wasn’t enough for Seattle, however, and further highlights the team’s frustrating inability to score.

Their performance this season so far has all but relegated the Sounders to one piece of silverware, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. It is a trophy that Seattle is accustomed to winning, having done so in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2014. And if they hope to win anything at all this season, they will have to be ready to perform against the L.A. Galaxy.
