Toronto blows out Columbus en route to their eighth straight game unbeaten.

Toronto FC was without their star strikers Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco, but that didn’t matter. Toronto would walk away with a huge 5-0 win for their seventh win in their last eight games. Many people have said this is just a Sebastian Giovinco team, but this season is showing that it’s not. Victor Vazquez was once again the best player on the pitch scoring twice including a lovely free kick. Vazquez started the scoring in the sixth minute from the penalty spot after Ricketts was taken down. He would score again putting his free kick under the wall into the bottom corner, Sebastian Giovinco who?

This was a good Columbus team who made defensive mistakes and Toronto shredded them with perfect passes and well placed shots. It’ll be a tough week next week as Toronto takes on Edmonton in the second leg of the Canadian Championship and then head to Foxborough to take on the New England Revolution. Giovinco might be ready for that game, and Jozy Altidore will be back in the lineup, so can Toronto make it nine games unbeaten?

Victor Vazquez. He was the best player on the pitch, again. He’s just got an inept ability to find players and get them the ball in perfect positions. His beautiful through ball to Ricketts in the sixth minute of the game led to his first goal of the game. His free kick was a thing of beauty as you can see below. He’s been the perfect person for Toronto, exactly what they hoped for when they brought him over. Vazquez could be the final piece to a title team!

Why they won:
Toronto was the best team on the pitch. While Columbus created some chances in the first half, nothing really troubled Alex Bono. Jumping out to the early lead really helped Toronto too. They created havoc for the Columbus defence as they made runs behind the defence all night long. Even Jonathan Osorio got on the scoreboard, and what a goal it was, the Canadian has struggled this season, but looked like his normal self last night after coming on for Vazquez.
