Houston Dynamo unbeaten at home. Vancouver Whitecaps FC won their last two consecutive road games. Both squads promise a most watchable MLS game this week.

Both Houston Dynamo and Vancouver Whitecaps FC will roll against each other all night. Vancouver will pose more of a defensive threat. They must back up that threat with a couple of scores to stay in the game.

Getting three points in this one doesn’t grant all the marbles to the winner. But they get to keep shooting.

Houston Dynamo

  • Current Record (W-L-D): 5-3-1, 4th in the West.
  • Last Time Out: Beat Orlando City 4-0 at home.
  • Player to Watch Out For: F Mauro Manotas demonstrating more of what we miss if he doesn’t start. He can get among the team leaders with a score in this match.
  • Why They Win: They roll and roll, with one or two scores on defensive errors. Get a third score on a penalty kick, although fans will be a bit nervous if Manotas is taking it. He missed one to the left last game.
  • Why They Won’t: The team doesn’t hustle back to help the D, at least matching the Whitecaps defensive effort.

Predicted Starting XI (4-3-3):

Vancouver Whitecaps FC

  • Current Record (W-L-D): 4-4-1, 6th in West.
  • Last Time Out: Beat Colorado Rapids 1-0 at home.
  • Player to Watch Out For: F Fredy Montero always holds a clinic of sorts for fans. Watch for it. He also plays with intelligence and class, sharing contributions with Cristian Techera and Christian Bolaños.
  • Why They Win: At least two balls in the net, along with heavy defensive pressure gets the points.
  • Why They Won’t: Too nonchalant on passing in the midfield plus confusion in the defensive area, especially if there’s a foul in the penalty area resulting in a shot opportunity.
