It was the first week of teams having a double game week in MLS Fantasy. Did your team take advantage?

San Jose and New England had a midweek matchup, meaning you had twice the opportunities to cash in on them. They were popular picks this week, but thet produced mixed results.

The scoreless draw midweek meant a good week for defensive players, but those hoping to get goals from the extra game were hurt. Only four of the players from those teams made the Fantasy Team of the Week.

Three Hits and Misses of Week 8

Hit: Double Game Week Goalkeepers

If you had Cody Cropper or David Bingham you had a good week at the keeper position. Both got a clean sheet in their first game. Despite the goals allowed in the weekend, the two were the top keepers this week.

Miss: Double Game Week Strikers

If Kei Kamara’s nine points came in one game it would be a good week, but the opportunity to score big was missed. Throw that in with Juan Agudelo, Chris Wondolowski and Marco Urena combining for 15, which is rough.

Hit: Leonardo

After missing the last three matches, Leonardo’s return to the Houston backline lead a shutout and a 10 point performance. A welcome performance for Dynamo and fantasy owners alike.

Miss: LA Galaxy Defenders

It hasn’t been a good year for LA Galaxy defenders but this 3-0 loss to Seattle might take the cake. Nathan Smith and Jelle Van Damme were popular picks this week but combined for just four points.

Hit: Anthony Jackson-Hamel

Jackson-Hamel has become the super sub of the month in the past couple of weeks. After his cheeky goal last weekend, he got two goals in just under 30 minutes against Philadelphia. Talk about efficiency.

Miss: Artur

It wasn’t his fault, but having to get subbed off after just five minutes in the game for his injury really stings from a fantasy perspective.

Three Players to Pick Up

Miguel Almiron

Atlanta is back home after their four game road trip and they take on a D.C. United team who has had some bad recent performances. Almiron should get plenty of chances in this one.

Cyle Larin

Orlando has been on fire in front of the wall at home. They get to play a Colorado side that starting to look like one of the weaker sides in the league at the moment.

Tim Melia

Fresh off their first off their first loss of the year Melia is a good option to bounce back. Real Salt Lake doesn’t have the most lethal offense and Melia will have the home crowd behind him after a couple road games.
