With Week 27 of Major League Soccer play behind us, here is MLS Multiplex’s Team of the Week with Giovani dos Santos headlining.

Week 27 of MLS action gave us plenty of memorable games including the return of Landon Donovan. Although he didn’t make the list, plenty of other outstanding candidates played some of their best games of the season this week. Giovani dos Santos’ amazing week and outstanding form leads the list of players for Week 27.

This week, Orlando pick up a win and a loss. The LA galaxy drew one match and won another as those were the only two teams to play in two games this week. Sporting KC and the Houston Dynamo battled to an exciting 3-3 draw on Friday night.

The Vancouver Whitecaps, the New England Revolution, Toronto FC, the Colorado Rapids, and the Portland Timbers all picked up wins this week. While the Columbus Crew, NYCFC, the Chicago Fire, FC Dallas, and Real Salt Lake all were defeated. Sporting KC, the Houston Dynamo, the Philadelphia Union, the Montreal Impact, the San Jose Earthquakes, the Seattle Sounders, the New York Red Bulls, and DC United all drew in their match-ups.

GK: Tim Howard (Colorado Rapids)

Tim Howard was one of only two goalkeepers throughout the league to maintain a clean sheet this week. To make that it even more impressive, he did so against the sixth highest scoring team and the Supporters’ Shield leaders in FC Dallas. He made seven saves as Colorado picked up three points in Frisco, Texas.

DEF: Vytautas Andriuskevicius (Portland Timbers)

The Lithuanian international helped lead the Timbers to an important 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake. According to Bleacher Report, he held Juan Manuel Martinez to only one key pass and zero shots for the match. Portland’s fighting for a playoff spot in the Western Conference and Vytautas’ effort  is a much needed positive for the club.

DEF: Jelle Van Damme (LA Galaxy)

In his first season with the Galaxy and in MLS, Jelle has instantly become one of the best defenders in the league. He proved against Orlando City SC that he could also get forward on the offensive end. He recorded two important assists in that match.

DEF: Jordan Stewart (San Jose Earthquakes)

Jordan Stewart played an important role in San Jose’s draw against Seattle as he created the lone goal for his team. His great cross in the 20′ minute found Chris Wondolowski for the easy goal. The Sounders ended up coming back to level things at one goal apiece but Stewart and the Earthquakes still walked away with a point.

MID: Diego Fagundez (New England Revolution)

Diego Feagundez recorded one goal and one assist in New England’s impressive 3-1 win over NYCFC. He and teammate, Juan Agudelo, were in top form for this match. They pulled off the upset even without Kei Kamara.

MID: Kaka (Orlando City SC)

During Orlando’s midweek match-up against the Montreal Impact, the Brazilian international recorded two goals. Those two scores helped lead his team to a 4-1 win and pushed his total to eight on the season. Although OCSC and Kaka suffered a disappointing loss against LA later in the week, his performance against Montreal was superb.

MID: Carlos Rivas (Orlando City SC)

Much like his teammate, Kaka, Rivas was pivotal in Orlando’s win over Montreal as he scored one  goal and dished out two vital assists in the midweek affair. Although he didn’t start against the Galaxy, he came on as a sub and had an impact on the match. It wasn’t a great showing from the team but LA only scored one of their four goals after he came on so that’s kind of a positive.

MID: Giovani dos Santos (LA Galaxy)

Giovani dos Santos is hitting his stride at the right time for Los Angeles. He played in two matches this week and recorded a total of four goals and three assists as the Galaxy picked up four points against Real Salt Lake and Orlando City SC. Let’s see if he continue his great form.

FW: Joao Plata (Real Salt Lake)

Plata underwhelmed in his second game of the week against Portland but he was outstanding in his midweek match against LA. He had a hand in every goal for RSL in that match. He recorded two goals and one assist as they came back from a 3-1 deficit. They ended up drawing 3-3 and come away with a point.

FW: Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC)

Jozy Altidore is fresh off of an international break that saw him produce for his country. He followed up his performance with the US by scoring one goal and assisting on another in Toronto FC’s 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire. He is in great form and his club is now atop the Eastern Conference.

FW: Juan Agudelo (New England Revolution)

Like I said before, Agudelo played at the top of his game against New York City. He scored the first goal of the match in the 21′ minute to get things started. He later assisted on Fagundez’ goal in the 58′ minute to seal the three points for his team.
