Jermain Defoe, Thierry Henry set to clash in TFC-NYRB match

After a hiatus Major League Soccer returns to a full swing this weekend starting with a high profile match between the New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC that will see two North London rivals meet up when former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe and former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry hit the pitch Friday night.

Henry got the start for the Red Bulls despite taking a vacation to appear as a pundit back in England during World Cup coverage while Defoe will make his first club appearance after being snubbed from England’s World Cup squad looking to force his country to second guess his omission from the roster with some goals following the Three Lions embarrassing showing in Brazil.

Tim Cahill will start the match on the bench after scoring two goals in two matches for Australia in Brazil, including what could be the Goal of the Tournament against the Netherlands when he finished a “bar down” volley to equalize with the Dutch.

Following are the starting lineups and substitutes for both New York and Toronto. Kick off is slated for 8:00 Eastern time.
