One of the biggest local derbies in Major League Soccer, and the only pure local derby in the league (for example, both teams share the same stadium), is Wilmer Cabrera’s Chivas USA vs. Bruce Arena’s Los Angeles Galaxy at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. However, this series could be on borrowed time, with Chivas USA potentially moving to a different town when under new ownership next year.

So let’s enjoy the rivalry for what it is because after this season, who knows what the future will be in the SuperClasico. Kickoff for the first leg on Sunday, Apr. 6, is scheduled for 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET and will be televised by UniMas. Here are 10 Bold Predictions for the Sunday matinee between Chivas USA and the Los Angeles Galaxy.

1. At least 30 fouls and three cards

This is going to be a fast-paced, exciting match, with plenty of chippiness. The MLS Multiplex calls for 30 fouls and three cards of any color minimum.

2. Landon Donovan sets the record

Finally, Landon Donovan will pass Jeff Cunningham on Sunday for the right to be MLS’s all-time goalscorer. If there is one opponent that deserves to see history, it’s a team that will soon be history.

3. Erick Torres with a brace

Erick “Cubo” Torres is on a hotstreak. Period. So look for Torres to make it great with another couple of goals to help Chivas USA.

4. Robbie Keane scores for LA

One of the most influential players for the Galaxy is their captain, Robbie Keane. Look for Keano to step things up and score for the Galaxy.

5. No goals for Leandro Barrera

On my recollection, I got this right before, and I’ll look to ride on this prediction one more time. There will be no goals for Leandro Barrera, but there may be an assist instead.

6. Dan Kennedy with at least four saves

Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy was rock solid the last time and had four saves against the New York Red Bulls. Against the LA Galaxy, Kennedy will have at least four more.

7. Jaime Penedo with at least five saves

However, Kennedy’s counterpart, Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo, will have an even better performance. The MLS Multiplex calls for at least five saves from Jimmy P.

8. Mauro Rosales with at least an assist

The top provider for Chivas USa is Mauro Rosales, and he will look to maintain a consistent form as a provide by recording at least one assist.

9. Here comes Bofo Bautista

Up to this point, Adolfo “Bofo” Bautista was all hype. But this time, against Chivas’s main rival, Bofo will step it up and provide a match-winner for the designated home team.

10. A historic win for Chivas USA

Chivas USA, after a number of matches falling short, will finally one-up the Los Angeles Galaxy and take all three points. It’s going to be a bit bittersweet because this may be one of the few victories Chivas will have against the Galaxy…as Chivas. Stay tuned.
